Project Discovery recently completed their winter Pioneer High School Ski Team program. Students with no previous skiing experience were taken from “Never Ever’s” to skiing Black Diamond Expert Runs in a series of practices with a lot of emphasis put on mentoring and pushing one’s limits in a reasonably conservative way. Along the way we worked with ski patrol on skier safety and skier rescue, endured every kind of weather, enjoyed a back country xc and snowshoe trip and bonded as a team. Every individual increased their skill levels tremendously as well as learning to help others do the same. We celebrated our final practice in the spirit of Aloha with shish-ka-bobs alongside Squaw Creek at Palisades Tahoe. Above all students learned to take care of themselves and one another better than they every had. A great time was had by all!
