The Project Discovery Leadership Academy was held this week with wonderful results. These young people rose to the occasion and learned tons about Outdoor Leadership from the shores of Lake Tahoe to the summit of Slide Mountain. Based at the Ropes Challenge Course the group tested and challenged themselves on the course learning how to operate most of the elements as well as rock climbing, rappelling and backpacking. From map and compass work to outdoor education learning about our local natural environment, campers worked on honing their leadership and camp counseling skills all week and reflecting on all they had learned each evening. They all passed a rigorous examination on Friday and celebrated that afternoon. There is no doubt that this was the best and most highly motivated students to ever come through this program and we are proud to call them all part of our junior staff and look forward to how these super stars shape up as fully fledged course staff in the future!
