It’s been our pleasure to work with the staff of Camp SignShine for the last few summers. The camp is offered to deaf youth and siblings in Northern California and Nevada. We did a training at the Project Discovery ropes course for the incoming teen Counselors In Training and adult staff.
Did they sign? You bet. Imagine taking on a challenge course experience without words! Did they shine? Absolutely! We threw some of our toughest challenges at them, the ones that rely on the team using communication to a maximum.
The Project Discovery staff always learns just as much from these days. Teaching how to put on a harness or how to do team belay using mostly demonstration and as few words as possible challenges us to become better facilitators too. Here’s our “best of” pictures from the day.
