From our man on the ground, Mike:
Hiked along the fire line and into the black several hundred feet and couldn’t find even one smoke on the Northwestern perimeter of the fire. Winds were pushing 25, 30 so I was happy that all was dead out. The only flame I could see was in the middle of the fire and it was surrounded by black.
Redemption was already beginning. The wind was actually blowing in fresh Jeffry pine seeds from the West and they were scattered all over the black moonscape. Ma Nature is already laying the foundation for future growth.’ It will be green again, we just need to be patient and find beauty where we can.
And finally, a huge thank you to all Air Attack crews, hot shots, Type II teams and the hundreds of fire folks that came from all over to fight the good fight in order to keep us and our property safe. It was an honor to meet and work along side folks from all over. You all rock and there is already talk of a “Thank You Party” soon at Skytavern. ”
