Rebecca Gonzales and Girl Scout Troop 250 of the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada turned their cookie money into Adventure and Excitement last weekend by spending a day at the Project Discovery Ropes Challenge Course. I can say this for sure, this Troop was one of the most supportive and high performance troops we have ever had on the course in 20 years. The girls offered one another encouragement, support and kindness as each girl (and troop leaders) surmounted one challenge after another. Success on the low course led the troop skyward as they enjoyed some Brownie and Junior fly- ups on the Flying Squirrel. After climbing up 45 feet to the catwalk many of the girls then shed tears and laughter on the Giant Swing whooshing down with their partner at 35 mph! Finally the entire troop was able to lead and help one another up a 12′ wall for their final challenge. Every girl and leader in this troop pushed themselves and there is not doubt that every girl helped all the others grow stronger. Courage and pride was on everyone’s face as they enjoyed their final debrief and appreciated one another with leadership bracelets. We hope we get to see them all again. One of the best groups of the year to be sure! We love the Girl Scouts!
