Project Discovery had the good fortune of hosting Karma Box of Reno, NV yesterday. This organization makes good things happen for the homeless population of Reno. From camp clean-up to outreach to getting folks out of the cold and supporting them in their legal battles, Karma Box touches our community in wondrous ways. Their iconic gift to the Truckee Meadows from which they got their name is the building, placement and maintenance of actual Karma Boxes, places where anyone can leave useful items for others who need them. But look, there’s more, Karma Box also employs ex and current homeless people who are ready to get on with their life and help others with their precious time. This gives Karma Box employees a unique position to both have a purpose and mission while actually providing assistance to others. Their time at the course was punctuated by motivation borne of hope and faith, conversations, honest reflections, honesty and a deep commitment to their organization. To say they “rose to the occasion” would be a gross understatement. We are proud to work with each and everyone of them.
