As you would suspect, the staff and students of Pioneer High School in Carson City hung tough in the face of a rain and snow storm and were able to set up and sleep in a tipi that they erected in a fierce May storm. The students learned a lot about grit and how to succeed in the face of hardship and discomfort… of course they also enjoyed the zip line, flying squirrel and a camp fire with Somemores as well as a beautiful Dreamwalk and some sun on Day Two. All in all the weather brought us closer as these students supported and helped each other through each challenge and learned how to apply their mental toughness back in the classroom with their teachers and staff.
Loved this group from Pioneer. One of the best groups I have ever had. They definitely rose to the occasion and didn’t let anything get in their way. What a team of young scholars overcoming the odds… where most schools and teachers and staff would have given up, this group not only persevered, but came away a little taller and with much bigger smiles and new friends along the way. If there was an award for “Best School of the Century” Pioneer would win it hand’s down in my humble opinion. If you don’t believe me… just look at the faces in there pictures. Special thanks go out to John Corbett, Elijah Rotter Sandy Corbett, Jason Zona and Danielle for all they do to help these students get a little closer toward graduation… and their dreams.
