Pioneer High School students experienced their first all school event with Project Discovery. Following some warm up activities in their advising groups nine teams designed, built and raced their boats against the other eight teams. The all day event was conducted at the Carson Community Pool and everyone learned a lot and enjoyed group problem-solving, learning, collaboration, challenge and of course, laughter and giggles. Did some boats sink? You ask. Like a stone. But all the students were nevertheless proud of what they had built together. In the final analysis, they learned a little bit about leadership, collaboration and paying attention to details when building a boat (or a life). A good time was had by all. Special thanks goes out to Cary Jorden for directing this whole operation at Pioneer. And for going down with the ship just like the Captain of the Titanic. Nice work Cary!
