Two Pioneer High School students broke the mold last week when they became the first ever Pioneer students to enter into the wild vertical environment of the Mt. Rose Chutes. Showcasing only Expert terrain, The Chutes put fear in the hearts of a majority of Mt. Rose skiers and riders. For Edward and Alejandro to successfully negotiate this steep terrain is a real test of their ability and a monument to how far they have come as Pioneer Skiers. These two gentleman are the poster boys for students who are willing to work hard in both the class room and on the mountain in order to achieve excellence.
All of us at Project Discovery salute them and their colleagues for their hard work and success this season and are proud of what they have accomplished by working to get back up every time they have fallen. More importantly, they have learned that the same thing applies in the classroom as well… sometimes you have to work hard, get back up after you have fallen and put your nose to the grindstone to accomplish excellence!
I am proud to call these students and teachers skiers and friends. Looking forward to one last final ski meet in April!
