The Silver State Hotshots, one of only 100 Hotshot crews in the country, are an elite group of Wildland Firefighters who risk their lives and limbs every year keeping wild fires from burning our homes once again honored Project Discovery with a part of their training regimen. This season they chose to challenge their crew of 23 with a Great Race across the Carson Range. The race pitted half their crew against the other and was very competitive on the uphill course. The final leg was a race across Selbee Pond using kayaks that could legally only accommodate 95 pounds. Their solution: swim with six crew members holding on to the boats in the 36 degree water. I am telling you, these guys are tough with a capital “T”.
And we are proud to work with each and every one of them!
