Our last day of Discovery Camp was spent on the shores of Lake Tahoe with some leadership challenges, games and frivolity. The afternoon was spent in the more serious endeavor of maritime engineering. Two teams competed against one another in the building of a sea worthy boat capable of carrying at least two mariners and surviving the wind waves of Lake Tahoe. Although the Titanic and its sister ship, the SS Biggest Little stayed true to history (and sank like a rock) the team work and leadership involved in building the boats was a great learning experience, so all was not lost. This last day of camp was punctuated with a final Appreciation Circle where each camper received some positive feedback for what they contributed at camp this week. With hugs and smiles all around, the inaugural camp partnership between Project Discovery and the Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program was in the books. Many thanks go out to the staff of both organizations for making this happen. Stay tuned for one more upload from my waterproof camera…
