Adventure is the invitation to common people to become uncommon. – Warren Miller
Why are Project Discovery Camps Different?
Our focus is child driven rather than program driven. Our staff works hard to make sure each child is successfully challenged and experiences the joy associated with pushing oneself just a little further than they thought they could go. We strive to strike a nice balance between leadership, responsibility, friendship and fun.
Project Discovery Camps are intentionally small with a high staff to camper ratio to be certain that each child isn’t lost in the shuffle of a large camp environment. Our Camp Coaches are leadership focused when working with our campers in order to support more effective skill building, behavioral maturity and social-emotional growth. Project Discovery Camps are above all personalized to each child’s needs and developmental level. We are inclusive, supportive and detailed and debrief every day with a focus on our campers and how we can best work together to better meet their needs and help them reach for the stars. All of us here at Project Discovery are proud of our twenty-five year tradition of helping young people experience the joy of becoming stronger, more confident and able to connect with others to the mutual benefit of all.
Having worked with young people for over 40 years and successfully completed a doctorate degree in the discipline of The Social-Psychology of Leadership has primed me to offer unique camp offerings that will enrich and enliven your child’s summer. I invite you to explore our camps for the 2022 season, we have new camps for your campers as well as the good old standbys!

My daughter has practically grown up in this program and looks forward to it every year. The courage and maturity she has gained from all the years in your summer camps has been extraordinary. – Kris Hemline, Parent
All of my kids have benefited greatly from being involved in the Project Discovery summer camp program. They always return stronger, more confident and with plenty more stories, and more importantly, good friends from their summer camp adventures. – Josh Pollock, Parent
You couldn’t ask for a better program to get students out into nature and connecting more with themselves and their friends than Project Discovery’s. Thanks for all the good work you do! – Melinda Blackwell, Teacher, Galena HS and Equis Insight Program Director
Not only was this camp fun for my son, it was transformative. After the week was out, he independently tried activities and challenges that we’d been encouraging (unsuccessfully) for years! He came home with increased confidence and independence that he uses in all aspects of his life. Thank you Tahoe Adventure Camps! – Jen S., Parent
