We offer a Standard and an Advanced version of our RR&B Camps. The Advanced Version is a great option for kids who have done our RR&B camps in the past, or have quite a bit of previous outdoor adventure experience.
Our leadership-based summer camp programs accommodate campers age 6-12 (9-12 Advanced). For the Standard camps, we do tend to separate campers into a younger and older groups if we have enough enrollment so that activities and interactions are age appropriate.
(Standard)
Our standard Rocks, Ropes and Boats Camp samples local adventures in the Tahoe area beginning with a challenging Low and High Leadership Challenge Program at one of the largest Ropes Courses in America. The rest of the week is spent trying out rock climbing, rappelling, outdoor education climaxing with a hike into a wilderness beach at Lake Tahoe.
(Advanced)
The Advanced camp also begins with a few days on the Ropes Course and joins the standard camp Rock climbing, but on the rock climbing day, the Advanced campers have to opportunity to rappel down a small waterfall into the Truckee river, while the Standard campers cheer them on. They also do a small summit climb above Lake Tahoe on the hiking day, and they go river tubing on the Truckee (conditions permitting) rather than a beach day at the Lake.
In either camp, Campers are sure to experience exciting and dynamic outdoor adventures and make new friends with their team as they explore the Tahoe outdoors together!
Note: This is a day camp. All campers will be dropped off and picked up each day.
All Project Discovery Camps not only provide campers a great adventure in the Northern Sierras area but also focus on helping students find and celebrate their own leadership strengths, both as individuals and as team members. All camp weeks end with an appreciation circle celebrating each camper’s accomplishments and growth during the week. Program goals include improving leadership skills, responsibility, self-confidence, communication skills and of course, the making of new friendships. Our overarching goal is to help children discover their strengths, work on their weaknesses and make new friends under the blue skies of a Sierra summer.
