Pioneer High School at Squaw Valley

The Pioneer High School Ski Team enjoyed another great day on the mountain this week! Students learned a lot about skiing and life… “You just have to keep getting up no matter how many times you fall…” and that they did. I am so proud of this team and how they competed and came out successful against great odds of failure. Again and again they would go down hard but get up laughing with the spirit benefiting true pioneers. This week the principal of PHS, Jason Zona was able to join us and help out with the coaching and catch up on this year’s ski program. Talk about a “hands on” principal, Mr. Zona is the definition of that. This is how you teach students to be tough and resilient, to build in “true grit”. Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I did! The students learned a ton about themselves, skiing and life itself. Mike

  1. Really hate being on the night schedule and not being a part of these ski programs. Pioneer High School is the best school in all of Nevada. You all rock!

Also stoked to see Sarah on the PD facilitator crew! Great ski instructor, even better person!

    1. Sarah fits Project Discovery like a glove. What a winner! We are so happy to see her. You would really like PD’s Winter Style. Squaw Valley and Ski Ducks have been great hosts of the Pioneer Ski Team this year and we proud to be a part of the Ski Duck Family! Bummer you couldn’t be a part of it but you are here in spirit!
